From humble beginnings we rise…

We are the official cheerleading team of Nanyang Technological University Hall of Residence 5.

Hall 5 cheerleading team was formed in the year 2008/2009 after a 2 years hiatus, adopting the name of Vikings. Its initial aim was to provide an opportunity for hall residents to learn cheerleading as well as to expand the number of activities available for hall residents.

Year after year, we have been putting up great performances to win the hearts of fellow Fivers at the annual Inter-Hall Cheerleading Competition. We have slowly evolved to become a team of fighters, seeking to unify Hall 5 with our spirit and passion. We always keep the root of our team in mind, and it is with the strong family bond cultivated batches after batches, that brought us to our best placing thus far – Champion. We pride ourselves not in the rankings achieved at the competition, but in the strong bonds formed and in every obstacle we overcome – be it as a person, as a cheerleader or together as a team.

We train with hearts of passion and souls of steel – for the greater glory of FIVE. Hall 5 is a close knitted community and within it, Vikings is a committee, a team and most importantly, a Family; an ever expanding family. 🙂

VikingS 2014/2015

Yet another milestone achieved for Vikings, we emerged as champion in the IHCC. This is also the year we realize that winning is not everything, it is a sweet bonus to the bonds forged along the journey while we strive to give the best we have for one another, it is a byproduct of the many years of experiences and learning passed down from batches before us, it is the result of a united team who has invested time, effort and hardwork just because we are one (pun unintended), it is a token to remind us of the willingness our seniors, coaches and fellow teammates to sacrifice anything, to be with us through the journey, it is a reminder to remember your roots and pass it on to whoever you come across. (Also the encore year of our coaches who came back for us :’) )

VikingS 2013/2014

A new page was written in Vikings history, as not only did we manage to form a full squad for competition, we managed to put up a clean ASU routine that helped us clinch the 1st runner-up position. It was also the final year of coaching for our coaches, and the seniors wanted to gift them with a trophy that they truly deserved. With lots of encouragement and guidance from each other, the team realized that with determination and lots of effort, nothing is impossible.

VikingS 2011/2012

Vikings 11/12 was a good mix of seniors and freshies and as a result, it was a committed, hardworking yet fun team to be with. It was also the team that started the culture of aiming to outdo ourselves every year at the Inter-Hall Cheerleading Competition.

VikingS 2010/2011

Vikings was re-adopted as the team name by popular demand from the new team. Led by our first female captain for Hall V Cheerleading, we secured our best ranking thus far of 9th place in the history of Hall V Cheerleading. With a team made up of highly motivated individuals with a genuine passion for cheer, we have improved by leaps and bounds to where we stand today.

Quincunx 2009/2010

In the year 2009/2010, Vikings was renamed Quincunx, in a bid to relate us better to the Fivers family. We successfully attained the special committee status, which allowed us greater independence in the running of our team.

Vikings 2008/2009

For a hall cheerleading team possessing no prior cheerleading experience, our 17 men team still managed to clinch a Top 10 position in our first cheerleading competition.
